Mr. Kittikorn Tanpaow, Deputy Governor of Engineering and Construction for the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), announced progress on the Orange Line (West) project, connecting Bang Khun Non to the Thailand Cultural Centre. The project began on July 31, 2024, and is scheduled for completion in 2030. This extension integrates with the Blue Line at Bang Khun Non station and the Orange Line (East) at the Thailand Cultural Centre station, creating a seamless transit link between Bangkok’s eastern and western zones.
The western segment of the Orange Line is a crucial addition to Bangkok's urban transit network, connecting key areas such as Ratchadamnoen Avenue, Siriraj Hospital, Rajamangala National Stadium, and Ramkhamhaeng University. It will significantly enhance public transportation between the city's eastern and western districts.
Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), a project investor, has begun construction, including the Bang Khun Non underground station (OR02) near Taling Chan Railway and Suthawat roads. The project requires the removal of the flyover on Charansanitwong Road, with Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited managing the task.
Traffic diversions for the flyover removal will commence on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 10:00 PM and will continue 24/7 until June 31, 2028. During this period, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction on surface roads along Taling Chan Railway and Suthawat Road.
