On January 7, a 74-year-old French man, identified as Mr. Lim Kimya, was fatally shot on a road median opposite Wat Bowonniwet Vihara in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. Witnesses found the victim bleeding heavily from the head and lying on the ground.

Suspect Description

Police have identified a suspect as a man riding a red Honda Wave 100 motorcycle (license plate 845). The suspect was wearing long jeans, a short-sleeved gray shirt, and a front-slung bag, believed to conceal a firearm. He was also wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom has directed a swift investigation, tasking Pol. Maj. Gen. Atthaphon Wongsiripreeda, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, and Pol. Col. Sanong Saengmanee, Superintendent of Chanasongkhram Police Station, with leading the effort. Investigative teams from the Metropolitan Police Bureau and Division 1 have been mobilized to track down the suspect.

Response and Outcome

Attempts to resuscitate the victim, including CPR performed by Pol. Col. Sanong Saengmanee at the scene, were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead on-site.
