On January 7, at the Amarin Room in the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) headquarters, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, along with Deputy Governors Assoc. Prof. Tawida Kamolvej and Sanon Wangsrangboon, met with representatives from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to discuss the development of "SoSafe," a platform aimed at addressing public safety and welfare concerns. The project builds on the existing Traffy Fondue platform, a tool widely used to resolve citizen complaints and connect public services.

Purpose of the "SoSafe" Platform

Governor Chadchart expressed gratitude to the UNFPA team for their contributions to enhancing Traffy Fondue into "SoSafe." He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to provide accessible, trusted, and immediate support to citizens, especially in situations where "home may not be the safest place."

"SoSafe" will focus on providing resources for vulnerable groups, including women, marginalized individuals, and the LGBTQ+ community. Key features include:

  1. Access to sexual health and reproductive rights services.
  2. Tools to reduce risks of sexual violence and discrimination.
  3. Alerts and preventive measures against violence.
  4. Integration with social support systems to provide holistic assistance.

Significance and Background

Data shows that 72% of domestic violence incidents occur in homes, often exacerbated by issues like drug abuse and unplanned pregnancies. "SoSafe" aims to provide a lifeline for those at risk by combining technology with public service support.

Implementation and Partnerships

The platform will launch in March 2025, with an MOU to be signed between the BMA, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Interior, and 14 pilot provinces. The collaboration focuses on:

  1. Expanding access and impact through partnerships.
  2. Integrating "SoSafe" with existing health, social, and community systems.
  3. Ensuring sustainable and effective use of the platform through support and resources.
  4. Promoting policies to foster safe and inclusive communities.

"SoSafe" will also enhance urban dashboards to streamline its integration into local governance and improve safety across communities.
