On January 7 at 6:00 p.m., Mr. Lim Kimya, a 73-year-old former Cambodian opposition MP and French national, was fatally shot near Wat Bowonniwet in Bangkok's Bang Lamphu area. The attack occurred on a median strip opposite the temple on Bowon Niwet Road. Police and rescue teams found Mr. Lim with gunshot wounds to his right rib and shoulder. Despite CPR efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Witnesses described the suspect as a man riding a red Honda Wave 100 motorcycle, wearing a short-sleeved gray shirt, jeans, a chest bag, and a helmet. The gun was reportedly concealed in his bag. The Metropolitan Police Bureau has mobilized investigative units to locate and apprehend the assailant, with early clues indicating a targeted attack.
