On January 8 at 3:30 PM, senior officers Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom and Pol. Maj. Gen. Teeradech Thamsuthir led an investigation into a motorcycle used by suspect Ekkalak Paenoi, also known as "M Kongruea," in the fatal shooting of Lim Kimya, a former Cambodian opposition politician. The motorcycle was abandoned at a PT gas station in Suan Luang District, Bangkok.
The vehicle, a Honda Wave 125, bore a license plate from Samut Prakan and was left without its key. A white helmet was also found nearby. Further inspection of the seat compartment uncovered items including plastic bags, a short knife, pain relief and allergy medication, personal care products, and other miscellaneous belongings.
CCTV footage revealed that Ekkalak parked the motorcycle at the gas station on January 7 at 6:21 PM before fleeing. He was seen wearing a motorbike taxi vest and taking a taxi shortly after abandoning the vehicle. Police are examining fingerprints and DNA evidence collected from the scene.
The motorcycle, reportedly used by the suspect for several days prior to the crime, is under scrutiny to determine whether it was borrowed or stolen. Investigators are also tracing the suspect’s escape route and financial transactions.
Testimonies from multiple witnesses have been collected, including the victim’s wife, who provided useful information but did not confirm if the motive was politically driven. Authorities suspect the crime was carried out by a team of individuals and expect significant progress in apprehending the perpetrators soon.
