Today (April 24, 2026) at 10:30 AM, the Supreme Court issued an order in Case No. Kom Jor. 1/2569 between the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Petitioner, and Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat along with 43 others (total 44), the Respondents, regarding allegations of serious ethical misconduct.
The petition alleges that while serving as Members of Parliament (MPs) for the Move Forward Party, all 44 respondents jointly proposed a bill to amend the Criminal Code (Section 112) relating to defamation. The petition claims the amendment's content aimed to diminish the status and protection of the Monarchy, which contradicts Section 6 of the Constitution. It is further alleged that this demonstrated an intent to undermine the Monarchy and subvert the democratic system with the King as Head of State.
Court Orders:
1. Acceptance of Petition: The Supreme Court has accepted the petition for trial. A copy will be sent to all 44 respondents, who must submit their defense within 14 days.
2. Duty Performance: The Court determined that a portion of the respondents (10 individuals) have not shown repeated behavior or caused serious damage and still hold significant duties as MPs. Therefore, the Court did not order them to suspend their duties. However, they are strictly prohibited from repeating the alleged actions or expressing opinions similar to those in the charges; otherwise, the Court may reconsider this order.
3. Schedule: The first hearing is scheduled for June 30, 2026, and the evidence examination is set for August 4, 2026, at 09:30 AM.
