Concerns Raised Over Barcodes on February 8 Ballots Potentially Allowing Voter Identification

February 13, 2026 – Widespread discussion has emerged online regarding concerns and irregularities related to symbols printed on election ballots. Specifically, attention has focused on barcodes on the pink party-list MP ballots and QR codes on the green constituency MP ballots. It has been observed that when these codes are scanned, the resulting numbers match the serial numbers printed on the stubs of the ballot booklets. This has raised concerns that the ballots could potentially be traced back to individual voters by cross-checking them with the voter sequence numbers recorded at each polling station.

A Facebook user named Prarttana Phromphithak, a reporter from PPTV, conducted an experiment by examining several photographed ballots from the same polling station. The findings showed that when scanned with a barcode reader, each ballot contained a unique number with no duplication.

Additionally, another Facebook user, Panjamapong Sermsawatsri, posted a message along with a photo of a green constituency ballot, stating that decoding the QR code revealed the ballot number printed on the stub as well.

As of Friday morning, February 13, 2026, there has been no official clarification from the Election Commission regarding the issue of barcodes and QR codes on the ballots.
