On December 11, news reports revealed that prior to the incident, Chaimet Sittisanitphong (commonly known as Sor Jor Tong) held a meeting on the second floor of his residence. The discussion focused on preparations for running in the upcoming election for the Prachinburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) Council. However, in the previous term, Sor Jor Tong had been involved in boxing promotion instead of politics.
As he planned to re-enter the race for the PAO Council this term, negotiations about candidate arrangements became necessary. It is believed that the disagreements over candidate allocations led to unresolved conflicts, ultimately contributing to the incident.
Reporters attempted to contact Ms. Kanokwan for clarification regarding the situation but received no response.
Background of Chaimet Sittisanitphong (Sor Jor Tong):
Chaimet, formerly known as Tempong Rittidet, is considered a close ally of Sunthorn Wilawan.
At 48 years old, Chaimet has served multiple terms as a PAO Council member in Prachinburi and worked as a boxing promoter, except during the last term when he did not run for office.
- In 2012: During the Yingluck administration, Pol. Lt. Gen. Winai Thongsong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, launched the “Prachinburi Model” operation, targeting major influential networks in Prachinburi. Chaimet was accused of bid rigging.
- In 2014: The Criminal Court acquitted Chaimet and four others of bid rigging charges, citing a lack of eyewitness testimony.
- In 2020: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) implicated Bung-on Wilawan, a former PAO president, along with 19 others, including Chaimet, in bid rigging across 15 projects.
Although Chaimet does not currently hold a PAO Council position, he remains active in charitable efforts, assisting local residents in need.
