On June 14, 2025, Sutin Klungsang, a list MP from the Pheu Thai Party, commented on Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s statement that the Bhumjaithai Party is ready to join the opposition if it loses control of the Interior Ministry.
Sutin said Anutin’s remarks reflect an attempt to protect his position, noting that this behavior is common among individuals or parties facing potential removal in a Cabinet reshuffle. He added that such reactions—whether through negotiation, threats, or appeals for sympathy—are not unexpected, and the public can discern the tactics being used.
“In countries unfamiliar with coalition governments, this could be alarming,” Sutin stated. “However, Thailand has extensive experience with coalition politics. While there may be feelings of disappointment or tension, we always manage to find a workable compromise.”
He emphasized that now is the right time to reshuffle the Cabinet to drive key policies and deliver results to the people. “Cabinet reshuffles are a normal part of politics. But given the current political context, if the situation is not conducive to change, it could pose a concern,” he said.
Ultimately, the decision lies with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Sutin noted that she must weigh the risks carefully and assess the government’s resilience. “If the administration is strong enough, a reshuffle poses no issue. But if it’s still fragile, it might be better to wait. I trust the Prime Minister’s judgment, as she is supported by an experienced advisory team,” he concluded.
