Following the recent submission of a letter by 21 MPs from the United Thai Nation Party to Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, calling for a Cabinet reshuffle within their party's ministerial quota due to concerns over competence and ethics, one named MP has come forward to refute the claim.
Mr. Wichai Sudsawat, MP for Chumphon, posted on Facebook denying any involvement, stating:
“As a representative of all three Chumphon constituencies, I affirm that none of us signed any letter to the Prime Minister requesting a Cabinet reshuffle in the United Thai Nation Party quota. The news is not true.”
The letter allegedly included the signatures of all three Chumphon MPs:
- Wichai Sudsawat
- Santi Saetang
- Supol Julsai
In a related development, Mr. Chuenchop Kongudom, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs and son of veteran politician Chatchawan Kongudom, also commented on Facebook. He wrote:
“Don’t let bad people win. It may seem like an internal party issue, but certain individuals are trying to destroy good people working hard for the public. They are going so far as to blatantly lie to undermine the credibility of Mr. Peeraphan. MP Wichai Sudsawat has confirmed the entire matter is a lie to the public.”
This incident suggests internal rifts within the United Thai Nation Party, with some MPs distancing themselves from the movement for change, and allegations surfacing about potential manipulation or falsification of support.
