On May 27, reporters reported continuous heavy rainfall in Samut Prakan Province from late night into the morning, leading to widespread flooding on major roads and severe traffic congestion during rush hour.

Flooded areas included Phuttharaksa Road (Phraek Sa) near Ratsamee Anan Market, where the leftmost lane was submerged under 30 cm of water. Vehicles could still use the remaining lanes.

Sukhumvit Road near the Clock Tower Intersection experienced about 10 cm of water, allowing small vehicles to pass. Srinakarin Road near the U-turn at Khrua Sompong Restaurant and the entrance to I-Mall had about 20 cm of flooding, with two lanes still navigable.

The most affected area was inbound Sukhumvit Road toward Bang Pu, particularly from the Ancient City to Bang Pu. Water covered the left lane up to the sidewalk, forcing all vehicles to shift right. This caused severe traffic jams, with tailbacks stretching over 10 kilometers.

Additionally, Phraek Sa Road in Soi Pathumkongkha School was heavily flooded, complicating student drop-offs. Northern Bang Pu Industrial Estate also faced flooding, making it difficult for many workers to reach their factories.

Local municipal authorities are working urgently to pump water off the roads. If no further rain falls, the situation is expected to return to normal within three hours.
