At approximately 10:20 AM on January 3, a bomb exploded near Ban Kala Pho School in Sai Buri district, Pattani province. The device, hidden near the battery storage area of a traffic checkpoint sign, targeted traffic police enforcing road discipline in front of the school.
Six officers were injured in the blast:
- Lance Corporal Patthapong Siammai (severely injured)
- Senior Sergeant Major Kamin Sriprasert (severely injured)
- Sergeant Panuwat Jantramat (conscious, injured)
- Sergeant Isma-An Alamat (conscious, injured)
- Sergeant Jenwit Ditta (conscious, injured)
- Police Corporal Kittisak Duangruang (chest pain, hearing issues).
The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the region. Authorities are investigating to identify those responsible and ensure safety in the area.
