At approximately 10:20 AM on January 3, a bomb exploded near Ban Kala Pho School in Sai Buri district, Pattani province. The device, hidden near the battery storage area of a traffic checkpoint sign, targeted traffic police enforcing road discipline in front of the school.

Six officers were injured in the blast:

  1. Lance Corporal Patthapong Siammai (severely injured)
  2. Senior Sergeant Major Kamin Sriprasert (severely injured)
  3. Sergeant Panuwat Jantramat (conscious, injured)
  4. Sergeant Isma-An Alamat (conscious, injured)
  5. Sergeant Jenwit Ditta (conscious, injured)
  6. Police Corporal Kittisak Duangruang (chest pain, hearing issues).

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the region. Authorities are investigating to identify those responsible and ensure safety in the area.
