Kirati Kitmanawat, President of Airports of Thailand (AOT), and Don Mueang Airport (DMK) executives have implemented comprehensive measures to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the New Year holiday season from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025. With approximately 717,000 passengers and 4,671 flights expected, representing a 19.96% and 13.32% increase from last year, DMK is focused on improving safety, convenience, and operational efficiency. The measures align with the government's vision of making Thailand a regional aviation hub and supporting tourism growth.

To handle the influx, DMK has established a Passenger Facilitation Center, operating 24/7 to ensure smooth operations. Advanced technologies, including facial recognition systems, are being utilized to expedite check-ins and reduce waiting times. Free parking will be available for travelers between December 28 and January 1, with a complimentary shuttle service to key airport areas. Additionally, DMK has enhanced its transport network by increasing shuttle bus frequencies and coordinating with public transport operators to ensure adequate taxi and bus availability, emphasizing passenger safety through vehicle inspections and alcohol testing for drivers.

In terms of facilities, DMK has prioritized passenger comfort with the introduction of the DMK Pax Experience Zone, a dedicated waiting area, and Baby Care Rooms, providing amenities for parents with young children. Increased cleaning schedules, additional security personnel, and upgraded baggage handling systems are in place to maintain efficiency and cleanliness throughout the airport. DMK also aims to create a seamless experience by integrating these services with the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) system, enabling better coordination between airlines, airport staff, and regulatory bodies.

Kirati reaffirmed DMK’s commitment to elevating its service quality, ensuring it meets international standards while supporting the aviation and tourism industries. Travelers are advised to arrive at least two to three hours before their flights to avoid delays. For additional assistance, the DMK Public Relations Center and the AOT Contact Center are available 24/7 to provide guidance and support. These efforts reflect DMK’s role as a key driver in enhancing Thailand’s connectivity and economic growth during the peak travel season.
