On December 31 at 8:00 p.m., Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra delivered a New Year’s message on Radio Thailand FM 92.5 MHz, reflecting on the challenges and achievements of 2024 and outlining her vision for 2025. She highlighted the resilience and unity of the Thai people in overcoming adversity, including significant floods and economic challenges.
Reflection on 2024 Challenges
The past year brought severe floods across northern, northeastern, and southern regions, causing extensive damage to lives and property. Despite these hardships, cooperation among government agencies, local authorities, volunteers, private sectors, and citizens enabled the nation to recover. The Prime Minister pledged that the government will continue improving infrastructure to better manage future natural disasters.
Thailand also faced global economic turbulence, including trade restrictions, geopolitical conflicts, and the lingering effects of the global economic slowdown. These issues required delicate balancing of political, trade, and investment strategies. However, efforts by all ministries to implement recovery-focused policies have shown promising signs, with the Thai economy growing stronger than in previous years.
Vision for 2025
The Prime Minister expressed hope that 2025 would be a year of opportunities for all Thais, offering greater access to economic prospects and personal fulfillment. She urged citizens to remain united in striving for success and assured them of the government’s commitment to delivering initiatives aimed at economic revitalization.
New Year Wishes
She called upon sacred blessings to safeguard the Thai royal family and offered heartfelt wishes to the public:
“May every Thai person spend this New Year joyfully with family, friends, and loved ones. Rejuvenate your body and mind to embrace the opportunities 2025 has to offer. I wish all of you happiness, success, and freedom from obstacles in the year ahead. Happy New Year!”
