The tenure of Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan as President of the Olympic Committee of Thailand has officially ended following the approval of a new executive board for the Thailand Aquatic Sports Association by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).
On December 4, 2024, the SAT confirmed the registration of the new board of the Aquatic Sports Association, effective from November 9, 2024, to November 8, 2031. The new association president is Lt. Gen. Boonchai Kasettrakan.
This decision effectively disqualifies Gen. Prawit, the outgoing president of the association, from seeking re-election as President of the Olympic Committee of Thailand in March 2025. Candidates for this position must currently lead a recognized national sports association. Gen. Prawit would need to assume leadership of another national sports association and secure registration approval before March 2025 to be eligible.
