On January 3, 2025, Chaiyanat Dejdejcho, an MP from Nakhon Si Thammarat and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, addressed allegations regarding a training program for Chinese volunteer police organized in Thailand. The program reportedly charged participants 38,000 THB each and issued certificates designating them as volunteer police officers. Siam University confirmed hosting such training but denied collecting any fees. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Bureau clarified that their officers participated only as invited lecturers.
Chaiyanat expressed skepticism, stating that leaked information and images suggested otherwise, prompting a deeper investigation into potential monetary transactions and police involvement. He also highlighted concerns that such programs could empower "grey Chinese groups" operating unlawfully in Thailand. Chaiyanat called for all relevant agencies to provide explanations to the Parliamentary Police Commission on January 9.
He urged the National Police Chief to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure accountability, especially if the allegations about fee collection and certification issuance are confirmed. Chaiyanat emphasized the need for decisive action to prevent misuse of authority and similar incidents in the future, pledging to pursue the issue to its conclusion and keep the public informed.
