On January 8, Mr. Wu, the father of 21-year-old Ms. Wu Jiaqing, submitted a letter to the Thai National Police Chief, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, requesting urgent assistance in locating his daughter. Ms. Wu traveled to Thailand with a friend on January 6 but lost contact with her family later that day, sparking fears for her safety. Her disappearance has raised concerns about a potential case similar to that of Chinese actress "Xing xing."
Ms. Wu informed her mother via WeChat upon her arrival in Thailand at 4 a.m. and shared her location at a hotel in Don Mueang. However, CCTV footage revealed discrepancies: she was picked up at Suvarnabhumi Airport by a white Alphard van and checked into a hotel in Lat Krabang instead, leaving around 9 a.m. Since then, all contact has been lost.
This was Ms. Wu’s first trip abroad after recently graduating from university. She traveled with a Chinese friend she met online a month ago, whose details are unknown to her family. Police are currently analyzing CCTV footage, though some cameras at the Lat Krabang hotel are nonfunctional. Mr. Wu, visibly emotional, urged Thai authorities to intensify efforts to find his daughter, expressing gratitude for their ongoing investigation.
