The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has decided to pursue criminal charges against Chaval Phonmuangdee, an MP from the People’s Party representing Chonburi's District 3. The charges stem from evidence suggesting that Chaval violated Sections 67 and 155 of the 2018 Election Act by intentionally filing an inaccurate election income and expense report following the May 14, 2023 election. Specifically, Chaval is accused of misreporting an expense for Facebook ads by approximately 8,000 baht.
In response, Chaval addressed the issue on his official Facebook page on December 22, expressing his willingness to prove his case in court while continuing his work as an MP. He emphasized his commitment to serving the people of Chonburi by advocating for legislative reforms, addressing public grievances, and tackling legal violations that affect residents' quality of life. His ongoing initiatives include resolving issues related to unlicensed factories and illegal operations that harm communities.
Despite the legal challenges, Chaval vowed to persevere in improving the lives of his constituents and addressing lingering problems in the region.
