On June 10 at the Ministry of Public Health, Minister Somsak Thepsuthin addressed the media to clarify comments he made on June 9 regarding civil servants under his supervision who are also members of the Medical Council. His earlier remarks were perceived as implying potential job consequences for council members who might vote contrary to his position. Somsak clarified that his previous statement was too brief and may have been misunderstood. He stressed that any vote or action by the three council members in question would have no impact on their positions, as they are nearing retirement.

When asked about his plan to attend the upcoming Medical Council meeting on June 12—a rare occurrence as no special council president has previously participated—Somsak responded that the issue has drawn public interest and he intends to fulfill his role as best he can. According to Section 24 of the Medical Profession Act, the special council president is legally permitted to attend, listen, provide explanations, or take any actions during meetings. He added that he would not stay for the voting session but would be present to clarify matters and promote understanding, emphasizing the desire to avoid public protests or unrest.

"For those thinking of coming to support me—there’s no need. Just stay home and rest. I can handle this duty on my own. It’s not difficult," Somsak concluded.
