At 3:42 PM on May 27, Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin, in his role as Special President of the Medical Council, addressed the final report submitted by the review committee established under Section 25 of the Medical Profession Act B.E. 2525. The committee's findings must be reviewed and a response sent back to the Medical Council within 15 days from May 15, the date the council's resolution was received.
Somsak stated that he aims to complete his decision by May 28 or 29. He will review the report submitted by the committee he appointed, which includes both legal and medical experts. If he chooses not to veto the council’s resolution, no response is required. However, should he consider a veto, it would need to follow the Medical Council's procedures.
Asked whether he personally supports the council’s decision, he replied that he would rely on legal advisors' analysis. He also noted that while the documents provided were incomplete—particularly regarding changes to disciplinary actions during a brief review period—he would proceed with what was available. Four Medical Council subcommittees reviewed the matter over different periods, but the details of how the disciplinary penalty was changed remain unclear.
Somsak acknowledged the absence of full documentation could potentially justify a veto, but added that such a move would depend on further review. He expressed concern over whether the lack of transparency benefited certain individuals or concealed critical information.
