Following the easing of tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border on the evening of June 8, when Cambodia agreed to withdraw troops from Chong Bok—previously the site of military clashes—and restore the area by filling in the trench, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra made a public statement via social media at 7:12 PM.
She highlighted that efforts to resolve the border conflict—through the combined work of the government, security forces, military, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all relevant agencies—have shown steady progress.
She confirmed discussions with the Cambodian government resulted in positive outcomes. Both sides agreed to reposition troops at previous conflict zones to de-escalate tensions. Furthermore, cooperation will be strengthened through the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) mechanism in the upcoming meeting on June 14. Dialogues will continue at all levels to restore bilateral relations to normalcy swiftly.
The Prime Minister urged the public to follow updates from official government sources and to continue supporting officials working toward a peaceful resolution.
She concluded by encouraging the public to stay calm and confident in the government's ability to manage the situation, assuring that no further violent clashes would occur.
