On May 30, Sonthiya Sawasdee submitted a petition to the Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General in Bangkok, requesting a constitutional review of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s appointment of Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga.
Sonthiya alleged that the appointment of individuals in conflict with constitutional requirements may be unlawful and could constitute a dereliction of duty. He claimed that since his previous petitions on May 6 and May 23, which were acknowledged by the Government Complaints Center (1111), he had received no official response about the investigation into Pirapan’s alleged shareholding in four companies.
He argued that Pirapan’s subsequent amendment of shareholder and executive records on May 21 confirms the original claims of misconduct. Sonthiya stated that such backdated adjustments amount to a completed offense under relevant laws.
He also referenced Pirapan's past conduct, including his retroactive resignation from a government post while registering as a party-list MP in 2023, which he believes may contradict a 2000 Constitutional Court ruling. Additionally, Sonthiya criticized Pirapan’s absence from the House during the budget discussion on the Energy Ministry’s 2.88 billion baht allocation, as Pirapan was traveling abroad at the time.
Sonthiya presented documents to support his claims and urged the Attorney General to refer the matter to the Constitutional Court under Sections 46, 47, and 48 of the Constitutional Court Procedure Act. He also stated that if no action is taken within 60 days, he reserves the right to submit the case directly to the Court himself.
