On May 22, local media reported concerns among residents in Tha Chai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chainat Province, due to rising water levels in the Chao Phraya River. The increase follows heavy rainfall in northern Thailand, causing upstream water to flow into the Chao Phraya Dam.

Residents living along the riverbank have intensified monitoring of their homes and the eroding riverbanks. Adul Yoddamnoen, a local resident, noted that landslides are common when the river level fluctuates. Although the government attempted to prevent erosion using eucalyptus poles as retaining walls, these efforts failed against the force of sliding soil.

This has sparked fears that continued erosion may sever roadways. Nearby, a house that had begun to tilt years ago is now sinking further each year. Wan-na Klaimanee, a resident, shared that the homeowners evacuated and now live in an abandoned school due to the ongoing risk of collapse, especially with water levels rising again.
