Ang Thong, a historically significant city, originated as "Mueang Ang Thong," located on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River near Wat Chai Songkhram (Wat Ka Khao) in Ban Hae Subdistrict. In 1813, the city center was relocated to the east bank of the Chao Phraya River at Bang Kaeo, leading to the establishment of the main district, which was later renamed "Mueang Ang Thong" in 1938. Known for its strategic location and rich cultural legacy, Ang Thong has grown into a hub of agricultural and cultural heritage, situated in eastern Ang Thong Province with borders to Ayutthaya and neighboring districts. The district comprises 14 subdistricts, including areas like Talad Luang, Bang Kaeo, and Ban Hae, each contributing to Ang Thong's legacy as a center for trade, community, and religious influence.
