On January 4, 2025, a viral social media post exposed alleged misconduct by a nightclub in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi. The club was accused of operating until 4 a.m. and photographing customers’ ID cards alongside their faces, with claims that this data was later shared in online "grey market" groups.
Numerous customers have since filed police complaints, prompting officers at Bang Yai Police Station to create a dedicated case file for the nightclub. One family, including a third-year university student, reported that their IDs were photographed during a visit on December 30, 2024. They and five friends experienced the same treatment.
The father, referred to as Mr. B (pseudonym), expressed concern about potential misuse of their data, noting this practice was unprecedented in earlier years. His daughter, Ms. C, revealed that the day after their visit, she received an unsolicited message on LINE promoting an online gambling website, raising suspicions about how her information was obtained.
Preliminary investigations indicate other affected customers received similar gambling-related messages. Many have since blocked the senders and deleted the messages. Customers are calling for stricter regulations to prevent such incidents, with some vowing to avoid nightclubs altogether.
