The Moon Bar, a prominent entertainment venue in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi, has faced widespread criticism following a viral incident involving a female customer. The customer claimed her two mobile phones were stolen during a visit, and when she confronted staff, an altercation ensued. She alleged that a security guard bruised her arm and challenged her to file a police report. The bar's management further escalated tensions by publicly sharing the customer's personal information on their social media page.
Subsequent allegations on social media accused the bar of legal violations, including operating beyond permitted hours, admitting underage patrons, illicit drug sales, and collecting customers' personal data for unauthorized distribution.
In response, District Chief Yanipatch Sri-Khot promptly alerted the provincial governor and led an investigation on January 3. Authorities confirmed the venue's operations were legally licensed, found no underage patrons, and did not detect drug activity or illegal practices during the initial inspection.
However, concerns over data misuse prompted the Bang Yai police chief, Pol. Col. Ronaphat Thubtimthong, to open a reporting desk for affected customers. Five individuals have since filed complaints. The authorities emphasized their commitment to strict enforcement of regulations and encouraged anyone with further information to come forward.
On January 4, District Chief Yanipatch and local police conducted a follow-up inspection, reiterating compliance requirements, including age verification, a ban on weapons, and adherence to legal closing times. Although no immediate violations were found, The Moon Bar was ordered to close for five days as a precautionary measure.
