On December 20, at Bangkok Apiwat Central Station, Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin inaugurated the "Caring Cabinet: Telemedicine in Communities under the 30-Baht Universal Healthcare Scheme." During the event, he addressed the issue of healthcare for foreigners under the T.99 Fund. He revealed that a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 24, will discuss balancing the fund's policies. The Ministry of Public Health aims to align with existing Cabinet resolutions and regulations while collaborating with other ministries. Adjustments will focus on achieving fairness, including potential insurance requirements or additional fees to address concerns among Thai citizens.
Regarding progress on the draft Village Health Volunteer (VHV) Act, Somsak stated that the legislation is currently under review by the Ministry of Finance's committee, with the Comptroller General’s Department serving as secretariat. Adjustments have been made to ensure mutual agreement, and both sides appear satisfied with the revisions. Once the committee concludes its discussions, the draft will be submitted to the Cabinet, aligning with a bill already proposed to Parliament by the Pheu Thai Party.
