At 3:00 PM on December 9, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra chaired a virtual meeting with governors from 12 southern provinces—Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang, Satun, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Phatthalung—to assess flood damages and relief efforts. Key attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department Director-General Pasakorn Boonyalak.

The Prime Minister emphasized her commitment to closely monitoring the situation and outlined plans for recovery, including a timeline for disbursing financial aid to affected residents. While she plans to visit the affected areas during the recovery phase, she has tasked ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong, with immediate on-site assessments to address urgent needs.

Reports from the provinces indicated that water levels in most areas are receding, which provides some relief. However, areas still facing significant flooding or road damages were encouraged to provide detailed updates to ensure targeted assistance. The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s readiness to support all affected citizens and noted progress in restoring northern areas, such as Chiang Rai, as an example of efficient recovery.
