On December 6, Hat Yai Municipality launched relief efforts for residents affected by recent flooding. Registration for assistance is open from December 6 to December 13, 2024. Residents can register online via a 24-hour QR Code system or in person at seven designated locations:

  1. Municipal School 3 (Sophonpittayakun Anusorn)
  2. Thammakasem Foundation School
  3. Sala Lung Thong Community Office
  4. Municipal School 2 (Baan Hat Yai)
  5. Behind Sripuwanat Fire Station
  6. Wat Hat Yai Nai
  7. Hat Yai Municipality Office

Required Documentation

Registration requirements vary based on the circumstances:

  1. Property owners filing directly.
  2. Representatives submitting on behalf of property owners.
  3. Tenants seeking relief.

Registration Observations

At Wat Hat Yai Nai, a significant number of residents queued with documents to apply for compensation. Mayor Pol. Lt. Gen. Sakorn Thongmunee and his team personally inspected the registration process to ensure smooth operations.

However, confusion arose on the first day. Some registrants mistakenly believed the program was linked to the national government’s flood relief fund of 9,000 THB. In reality, the assistance is funded by the municipality and limited to its jurisdiction. Residents from neighboring areas were turned away, while some local applicants were denied due to incomplete documentation.

Flood Impact Summary

Hat Yai Municipality oversees 103 communities, with 34 affected by flooding. Among these, eight communities experienced complete inundation, impacting over 8,000 households.
