The Thai Cabinet has acknowledged the severe flooding in six southern provinces, including Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. In response, the Ministry of Interior’s proposal to increase the emergency fund allocation for these provinces from 20 million to 50 million baht per province was approved.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved financial aid guidelines for households affected by flooding during the 2024 rainy season. Key measures include a uniform assistance rate of 9,000 baht per household for affected residents, regardless of the flood duration, provided it meets specific criteria. This extends coverage to 16 additional provinces, raising the total aid budget to 5 billion baht.
