On November 29, Thienprasit Chaiphattranan, President of the Thai Hotels Association (THA), reported that flooding in southern Thailand has so far affected areas surrounding Hat Yai but has not yet reached the city’s economic center. Authorities are working around the clock to prevent water from entering the city, monitoring the situation on an hourly basis.

In the short term, the flooding has impacted the local hotel industry. Planned events have been postponed, guest numbers reduced, and room reservations—particularly from Malaysian tourists—have been canceled. However, Thienprasit expressed optimism that these disruptions are temporary and that tourism will recover quickly once the situation stabilizes.
