At 4:13 AM on November 29, a steel structure at a construction site on Rama II Road (outbound), near the Mahachai New Market in Samut Sakhon, collapsed. The incident resulted in five fatalities, including three who died on the scene and two who later succumbed to injuries. Ten others were injured and sent to various hospitals, while one worker remains missing. Of the 39 workers present during the collapse, 25 were rescued unharmed.
According to the site supervisor, the collapse occurred suddenly as workers were relocating to another area, causing some to fall to their deaths and others to be trapped under debris. The police reported that the failure involved a steel launcher and segmental bridge parts on Highway 35 (Rama II Road) at kilometer 21+600. Traffic on the main inbound and outbound lanes has been closed, with parallel routes offering limited access—three inbound and one outbound lane. Authorities are managing traffic flow and investigating the cause of the collapse.
