On November 29, a steel structure collapse at a construction site on Rama II Road (outbound) near Mahachai New Market, Samut Sakhon, resulted in six fatalities and nine injuries. Following the incident, the Metropolitan Police Bureau issued alternative routes to ease traffic disruptions in the area:
- Turn left from Rama II Road to Bang Khun Thian-Chai Thale Road, then right to Khlong Pithayalongkorn Road toward Samut Sakhon.
- Turn right from Rama II Road onto Kanchanaphisek (inbound), then left to Ekachai or Phetkasem roads (outbound).
- Use Ekachai Road (outbound) toward Samut Sakhon.
- Use Phetkasem Road (outbound) toward Samut Sakhon.
Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit visited the site later in the evening to assess the damage. He expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing public safety concerns. Suriya announced that the Ministry of Transport has instructed the contractor to provide compensation of 1 million THB per victim.
