At 2:08 PM on June 20 at Parliament, reporters reported that during the meeting of the Special Committee on the Draft Budget Expenditure Act for the fiscal year 2026, chaired by Deputy Transport Minister Monporn Charoensri, the agenda for reviewing the budget of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation had concluded. The meeting was transitioning to next week's agenda.
Mrs. Monporn asked if there were any additional issues, prompting MP Rakchanok Srinok (Bangkok, People's Party), who had just entered the room, to request a quorum count. At the same time, a male committee member was heard saying, “For what?”
Mrs. Monporn then immediately ordered the meeting to be adjourned. MP Rakchanok responded, “Then next time, I’ll call for a quorum count during more central agency deliberations if I’m not allowed to do so today.”
Reporters noted that Rakchanok's request came right after the final agenda item for the day—review of the Ministry of Higher Education's budget—had already concluded, and the chair was about to adjourn the session.
