On June 14, 2025, Rangsiman Rome, a list MP from the Progressive Movement Party, revealed on Facebook that he is being sued for 50 million baht by the former chief medical officer of the Police General Hospital following his no-confidence speech in Parliament in late March regarding the controversial "14th floor" case.
He wrote:
“Dear citizens, I would like to inform you that after my parliamentary debate on the 14th floor incident, I received a civil lawsuit filed by Pol. Lt. Gen. Sophonrat Singharach, the former hospital director linked to the case. The lawsuit, filed with the Thonburi Civil Court, accuses me of defamation and seeks 50 million baht in damages.
I’m not concerned about this case. I maintain that I was fulfilling my duty as a member of parliament by scrutinizing the government and addressing alleged corruption. It’s inevitable that individuals outside the government may be implicated in such investigations. I view this legal battle as a continuation of my duty—only now the arena has shifted from Parliament to the court.
Let me add this: throughout my time as an MP, my speeches have frequently led to legal action. These lawsuits are likely intended to intimidate or slow down my work. But let me be clear—that will never happen. Every case filed against me only strengthens my resolve. I see it as a fight for the rule of law and to ensure no one is above it.”
