At 10:00 a.m. on June 13, a regional meeting was held at Ubon Ratchathani University to improve local disaster surveillance, situation monitoring, and public warning systems for Ubon Ratchathani, Amnat Charoen, and Sisaket provinces. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, who also delivered key policy directives. Attendees included provincial governors, the Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, local administrative officials, village heads, territorial defense volunteers, and community security teams.
Prior to the meeting, a panel discussion titled “Enhancing Local Disaster Surveillance and Warning Efficiency” was held, featuring Buriram MP and Bhumjaithai Party Secretary-General Chaiyachon Chidchob. He stressed that while natural and national security threats are evidently abnormal, the greatest concern lies in the political instability. He urged attendees to stay focused on their responsibilities, emphasizing that regardless of political leadership changes, their duty remains to serve the people.
Chaiyachon also commented on national security, calling for calm and preparedness without panic. He assured that the country’s defense forces are performing their duties well and that the public is largely supportive. He encouraged local leaders to also seek community support when necessary.
He concluded with a call for national unity, stating that if Thais stop quarreling and unite with a shared love and commitment to protect the nation, this collective spirit could generate immense power. With this mindset, he believes the country can overcome any challenge, be it natural disasters or epidemics, and move forward sustainably.
