At 8:00 AM on June 3 at Sanam Luang, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, also a key figure in the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the media regarding speculation about a cabinet reshuffle. When asked whether Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the party leader, had informed ministers or party members about a potential reshuffle, he responded that there had been no official communication—he had only seen the news in the media.
Phumtham emphasized that there were no issues among the ministers and everyone was continuing their work diligently. The final decision rests solely with the Prime Minister.
When asked whether the Ministry of Interior should be handed to the Pheu Thai Party, Phumtham replied that such a decision should be left to the Prime Minister’s discretion.
Addressing concerns about the impact of reshuffle rumors on the morale of ministers and civil servants, he stated that no ministers seemed affected. He had just met several of them at a merit-making ceremony held to honor Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday on June 3, and none appeared aware of any reshuffle plans.
As for the concern that civil servants might adopt a "neutral gear" or become inactive due to the rumors, Phumtham expressed confidence in their integrity and sense of duty to serve the public and the nation, adding that there was no need for concern.
