At 8:30 a.m. on May 20, 2025, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt presided over the opening of the 7th “Rider Health Checkup Fair,” a collaborative initiative between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), and network partners.
Governor Chadchart emphasized the importance of this initiative, now in its seventh year, as part of BMA’s goal to provide health checkups for one million people—780,000 have been screened so far. He noted that delivery riders are crucial public service providers but often lack time to attend health screenings. Due to their exposure to traffic noise, polluted air, and PM2.5 dust, regular health monitoring is vital for their well-being.
The health fair aims to promote preventive healthcare and gather health data to support policy planning and development of rider-friendly healthcare services. This year, 250 Shopee Food riders participated in the screenings.
The event included:
- Weight and blood pressure checks
- Waist circumference measurements
- Blood tests
- Diabetic retinal screenings
- Tests for pterygium/pinguecula (eye conditions)
- Hearing tests (Finger rub test)
- Electrocardiograms (EKG)
- Fatigue assessments
- Health consultations
Notable participants included Dr. Sunthorn Sunthornchart (Deputy Permanent Secretary, BMA), Ms. Poranee Phuprasert (Assistant Manager, ThaiHealth), Dr. Wiput Phoolcharoen (Secretary-General, Institute for Policy Research Foundation), Dr. Sarut Vanichphan (Senior Director, Sea Thailand), Mr. Tharit Thaisangsana (Senior Manager, Shopee Food Thailand), as well as officials from BMA and Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital.
