Today (May 16), reporters revealed that on May 15, Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, signed a ministerial order appointing a 10-member committee to provide opinions to the Special President Council under Section 25 of the Medical Profession Act B.E. 2525 (1982). The committee will assess the recommendation from the Medical Council to discipline three doctors involved in the treatment of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra at the 14th floor of the Police General Hospital.
This follows a decision by the Medical Council’s ethics committee on May 8, 2025, to penalize doctors who allegedly violated medical professional ethics. Acting as the Special President Council, the Minister deemed it appropriate to appoint a committee to offer supporting opinions for further consideration and orders under his authority.
By the authority granted under Section 20 of the Public Administration Act B.E. 2534 (1991), and its amendments, the Minister issued the following orders:
Section 1:
Appointment of the Special Council Advisory Committee to review matters under Section 25 of the Medical Profession Act. The members are:
- Mr. Chainan Ngamkhajornkulkit – Chairman
- Mr. Chaiwat Pattanaphisansak – Advisor
- Mr. Pongsak Kaewkamon – Member
- Mr. Pitak Chantaprayoon – Member
- Mr. Pasit Asawawattanaporn – Member
- Mr. Narinpong Chinapakit – Member
- Capt. Thanakrit Chit-areerat – Member
- Mr. Wachira Pakdeesee – Member and Secretary 1
- Mr. Witthaya Phonsila – Member and Secretary 2
- Mr. Piyawat Sinlaprasamee – Member and Secretary 3
Committee Authority and Duties:
- To provide recommendations to the Minister of Public Health, acting as the Special President Council, regarding proceedings under Section 25 of the Medical Profession Act.
- To appoint subcommittees or working groups to carry out assigned duties.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
