On January 6, 2025, the Facebook page of Arnon Nampa, a prominent human rights lawyer currently detained at the Bangkok Remand Prison under Thailand's Section 112 of the Criminal Code, shared a handwritten letter he wrote to his children. The letter, dated January 6, reveals personal reflections on life in prison and his steadfast commitment to his cause.

In the letter addressed to his two children, Pran and Kahn, Arnon described the cold weather in Bangkok, mentioning the need for extra blankets and expressing gratitude for a thin mattress that helps alleviate back pain. He humorously noted that while it’s not as comfortable as home, it suffices in the chilly season.

Arnon recounted his recent transfer back to Zone 4 after being quarantined in Zone 2 following a court appearance in Chiang Mai at the end of the year. He expressed appreciation for fellow political detainees, like "Uncle Bright," who helped him during quarantine, and friends who kept his belongings safe. He lightheartedly remarked on the condition of his laundry, suggesting his friends may have been too busy celebrating the New Year to tend to it properly.

Reflecting on his legal battles, Arnon shared that he faces court hearings nearly every month throughout 2025, with his cumulative sentence likely to exceed 20 years due to his speeches and social media posts from 2020–2021. He referred to these as "the costs of fighting for justice."

Arnon closed the letter with a message of resilience for himself and his children, affirming his commitment to truth and freedom. He wrote:

"This year, I must grow stronger every day, both physically and mentally, to affirm that 2+2=4. Be strong as well, my children, and wait for the day I return home—when we have freedom, the skies are clear, and flowers bloom."

The heartfelt letter underscores Arnon’s unyielding spirit in the face of prolonged incarceration and his hope for a brighter future for his family and society.
