On December 13, Defense Ministry Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Thanathip Sawangsang reported on the case of four Thai crew members detained in Myanmar's Kawthaung province. The return process is currently underway, coordinated through the Thailand-Myanmar Border Committee (TBC). Legal procedures in Myanmar are cited as the primary delay, with no other complications reported.

The Prime Minister has expressed deep concern for the detainees and urged the Thai ambassador in Myanmar to expedite their release. Foreign Affairs Ministerial discussions with Myanmar officials are scheduled for December 19 to address the matter further.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai has emphasized the importance of supporting the families of the detainees, who are deeply affected by the situation. Local agencies, including the TBC and Thai-Myanmar Border Fisheries Coordination Center, have been tasked with providing accurate and timely updates to the families. Social welfare agencies have also been mobilized to offer psychological support.

The Thai government remains committed to securing the safe return of the detained crew members as quickly as possible.
