At 5:00 AM on November 25, Thai authorities in Tak Province successfully rescued 39 foreign nationals who fled across the Moei River from Myanmar to escape exploitation. The group included 32 Sri Lankans, 5 Nepalis, 1 Malaysian, and 1 Russian. They crossed from Myawaddy, Karen State, Myanmar, to the Mae Sot district of Tak Province, Thailand.

The individuals reported being deceived via social media into working for the "Tai Chang" project, operated by Chinese criminal networks in Myanmar. Upon arrival, their conditions did not match the promises, and they were subjected to forced labor. Many contacted friends and their respective embassies for help.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Thailand had previously coordinated with Thai authorities to assist 32 Sri Lankan nationals. The Tai Chang project is located in an area controlled by the Karen DKBA forces under Brigadier General Sai Cholay, near the Thai-Myanmar border.

This rescue highlights the increasing number of foreign nationals fleeing exploitative work conditions under Chinese networks in Myanmar. Thai authorities, including the Rachamanu Task Force, Mae Sot police, and immigration officials, have intensified efforts to assist victims.
