On December 6, 2024, the Facebook page of Anon Nampa shared a handwritten letter from Anon Nampa, a human rights lawyer currently detained at the Bangkok Remand Prison under criminal charges related to Section 112. The letter, dated December 4, is addressed to his children and reads as follows:
"Sometimes, I wish you two could grow up a little slower. I want time to play with your toys, teach you to speak, show you how to use the bathroom, feed you, and take you to school. But life demands that we grow. Humans must grow in accordance with their age. You two must grow up and live beautiful lives. Our childhood memories together might only take place in courtrooms. From now on, it might take at least 16 years for us to reunite as a family. By then, Kharn will be a young man entering university, and Pran will be stepping into adulthood at 25.
December 4, 2024
To Pran and Kharn, my beloved children,
I must thank the court for allowing me to hold you both in the courtroom yesterday. It was pure joy to embrace Pran and Kharn at the same time. It made me realize how much Pran has grown. When Kharn saw me holding his sister, he ran over, asking to be held as well. It was amusing to watch.
This morning, I must prepare some belongings in case I am transferred to Klong Prem Prison or possibly to Chiang Mai Prison for another Section 112 case. Some clothes I’ve given as keepsakes to Aunty Ket, Aunty Kanun, and Uncle Book. I am keeping only the essentials—just two or three outfits. The weather is cooling down, so I’m packing a long-sleeved shirt. Being transferred to a new prison is something inmates must mentally prepare for. New accommodations, beds, food, environments, people, and guards—it all requires readiness for the challenges ahead.
In my next letter, I’ll write to share more.
Love, Dad."
