On December 27, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) announced their collaboration to integrate Thailand's universal healthcare system, the “30 Baht Treatment Anywhere” policy, into the government’s “Tang Rath” mobile application. The partnership aims to make healthcare services more accessible and efficient nationwide.
Dr. Jadej Thammatacharee, Secretary-General of the NHSO, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s goal to enhance healthcare accessibility. Starting January 1, 2025, the policy will expand nationwide. In 2024, over 176.53 million outpatient visits and 6.2 million inpatient treatments were recorded for Thailand’s 46.9 million universal healthcare beneficiaries. These figures underscore the importance of inter-agency cooperation to continuously improve the system.
The integration with “Tang Rath,” a government super app, enables seamless access to services, including checking healthcare rights, verifying treatment eligibility, accessing medical records, and locating nearby healthcare facilities. The app will also replace the need for physical ID cards to confirm eligibility, ensuring convenience and streamlined operations.
Oroda Luangwilai, Acting Director of the DGA, announced six new features available on the app:
- Eligibility Verification – Check healthcare rights for the “30 Baht Treatment Anywhere” program.
- Service Locator – Find nearby healthcare facilities.
- Identity Verification – Confirm identity using QR codes at service points.
- Health Records – View past medical history and treatment details.
- Expense Monitoring – Confirm service rights and identify any additional charges.
- Facility Switching – Change healthcare providers under the universal healthcare plan.
The NHSO reassured users that the app complies with strict data security standards to protect user information. The expanded features complement existing channels such as the NHSO’s official app, LINE account (@nhso), and the “Pao Tang” app, providing users with more options for accessing healthcare services conveniently.
