On December 16, flash floods originating from the Banthat Mountain Range inundated waterfalls and canals, quickly overflowing into Cha Rad Subdistrict in Kong Ra District, Phatthalung Province. Water levels rose to over two meters, submerging some homes almost entirely, affecting more than 300 households. Authorities evacuated residents, particularly elderly individuals and those in unstable housing, to safer areas.
In Tha No Village, on the border of Khlong Sai Khao and Cha Rad subdistricts, the torrential floodwaters, characterized by strong currents and muddy red hues, trapped villagers inside their homes, making it impossible for them to leave.
Deputy Phatthalung Governor Kongsakul Chantrarat, acting as the provincial governor, visited the affected areas along with Kong Ra District officials and administrative staff. They provided assistance and instructed teams to remain on alert 24/7 to support flood victims.
