On December 9, 2024, Sonthiya Sawaddee submitted additional documents to the Constitutional Court to support his earlier petition filed on December 6. The petition questions whether the government’s 10,000-baht cash distribution program deviates from the Pheu Thai Party’s original digital wallet campaign promise during the 2023 election. Sonthiya argued that the altered rules and target groups violate the Constitution, the 2018 Organic Act on the Election of MPs, and the 20-Year National Strategy. He requested the court to suspend Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from performing her duties until a ruling is made.

Sonthiya claimed that the current program bears no resemblance to the promised digital wallet initiative. Instead, it mirrors previous cash distribution policies under former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during the COVID-19 crisis, which were implemented under exceptional circumstances. With the economy recovering and tourism numbers reaching 31 million, Sonthiya questioned the necessity of the program. He further criticized the government for failing to meet its campaign pledge, leaving 40 million out of the targeted 56 million people disappointed. He argued this misalignment contradicts the 20-Year National Strategy and breaches Section 258 of the Constitution and the 2018 Organic Act on the Election of MPs.
