On December 6, at 12:45 PM, Paetongtarn Shinawatra addressed public concerns about a potential VAT increase to 15% through her social media. She stated that after discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Pichai and the Prime Minister's policy advisory team, it was confirmed that no such increase is planned. Instead, the Ministry of Finance is studying a comprehensive tax reform aimed at reducing inequality and enhancing the country’s competitiveness.

The reform process, which mirrors gradual approaches seen in other countries, may take several years to implement, with some nations requiring over a decade for similar adjustments. The government’s primary focus remains on reducing citizens' expenses, improving public sector efficiency, and creating new income opportunities to enhance the quality of life for all Thais.

Paetongtarn emphasized that the government operates with caution, listens to all sectors, and prioritizes public welfare in its policies to drive national progress.
