A tragic accident occurred around 4:00 PM on December 5th in Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province, Thailand. A foreign paragliding athlete’s parachute collapsed mid-flight, causing him to plummet to the ground near a local road and Lom Kao flea market area. Emergency rescue teams from Sawang Mongkol Sattha Lom Sak were called to the scene but found the victim deceased upon arrival.
The victim, a 58-year-old male Chinese national, was reportedly flying from Phu Thap Boek, a popular paragliding location. Witnesses stated that the accident occurred when the parachute suddenly collapsed, resulting in the fatal fall. The body was found wrapped in the deflated parachute.
Local police from Lom Kao Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial reports indicate that the deceased was part of a large group of international paragliders, with over a hundred participants gathered at Phu Thap Boek for the activity. The location is well-known among enthusiasts for its challenging and scenic paragliding conditions.
