On December 5, 2024, Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, a party-list MP from the People's Party, responded to Pheu Thai Party MPs who deemed it premature for the opposition to launch a no-confidence debate against the government, which has been in office for only three months. Mr. Wiroj emphasized that the timing of the debate should depend on the emergence of issues such as corruption or inefficiency in governance, not the duration of the government’s tenure.
He defended the opposition’s focus on substance during debates, rejecting accusations of frivolity or sensationalism. According to him, the opposition’s strength lies in delivering well-founded critiques, contrasting with claims of unpreparedness. He also challenged Pheu Thai to avoid defensiveness and suggested that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra should confidently address questions in parliament without reliance on aides or devices, demonstrating true leadership.
Mr. Wiroj dismissed concerns about the debate's timing, framing it as an opportunity for accountability rather than a threat, and reiterated that the opposition is ready to proceed with substantive discussions.
