Following the circulation of a video posted by the Facebook page “Army Military Force” showing Thai paramilitary rangers in a heated verbal exchange with Cambodian soldiers attempting to encroach into Thai territory, both sides were seen fully armed.

At 5:40 p.m. today (July 4, 2025), Major General Winthai Suvaree, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, stated that he received a report from the Suranaree Task Force. A patrol unit from Ranger Company 2304, operating in the area, was conducting a routine patrol when they detected movements of Cambodian soldiers near the Phu Phee viewpoint in Saothongchai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province. This area lies within a disputed zone along the border near Don Tual Temple and Preah Vihear Temple, as well as adjacent patrol routes. Thai troops approached and initiated communication. The situation ended peacefully without any violence, and both sides withdrew.

Maj. Gen. Winthai further explained that in recent times, Cambodian military personnel have been conducting more frequent patrols in this disputed area along the Thai–Cambodian border. On some occasions, senior Cambodian officers have personally joined these patrols. When encountering Thai forces, there are usually greetings, though sometimes exchanges can become tense or argumentative. However, these incidents have never escalated into deliberate violence, as both sides remain cautious to avoid breaching agreements and are committed to peaceful means, in line with their commanders’ directives.
